RGU FILM FESTIVAL was founded in 2017 by the then President of RGU Film Society Rima Chaudrey and Festival Director Craig Andrew Robertosn.
Working closely with Belmont Filmhouse and the RGU Student Union, the Film Society put on a highly successful event in March of 2017.
They received more than 800 submissions from Scotland and around the world. These were narrowed down to 55 of the best and these were shown to the public.
The Winners of the festival:
- BEST FILM & BEST INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FILM: POWER UP
- BEST INTERNATIONAL NON-STUDENT FILM: 24 DAYS OF TORTURE
- BEST SCOTTISH STUDENT FILM: CLEVER GIRL & POET WITH PUNCH
- BEST SCOTTISH NON-STUDENT FILM: WAYLAY
We were pleasently surprised when we were nominated for and then eventually won the award for BEST VOLUNTEERING PROJECT at the RGU Student Achievement Awards.
This was an excellent capper to a highly successful year for RGU FILM SOCIETY and the inaugural year for RGU FILM FESTIVAL.
